Visual Reality: Tutorials: Hexagon: Using the Cube Tool

Creating a Non-Uniform Cube from the Center

  1. On the Vertex Modeling tab, click the Cube button .
  2. In the Tool Properties palette, click the Center option .
  3. In the workspace, click where you want the center of the cube to be.

Note: You can also enter values for the center’s X, Y, and Z coordinates in the Center X, Y, and Z fields in the Tool Properties palette. Although using the mouse to create the cube’s starting point is easily, manually entering the center coordinates can give you more precise control.

You can create a non-uniform, or rectangular, cube

by typing values in the rayon fields in the Tools

Properties panel. These fields are available after

you click to specify the cube’s center point.

  1. Type the value for the cube’s X axis, or width, in the first Rayon field.
  2. Type the value for the cube’s Y axis, or height, in the second Rayon field.
  3. Type the value for the cube’s Z axis, or depth, in the third Rayon field.
  4. Press Enter or click Validate to create the cube.

Note: If you click the mouse button to create the non-uniform cube, the values that you entered into the Rayon fields will be overwritten with the values based on where you clicked. Therefore, you must press the Enter key or click the Validate button to create a non-uniform cube.
