Unify Normals for All Facets of a Selected Object
Unifying the normals of an object makes all the
polygons face the same direction, whether that's frontfacing or backfacing.
- Select the object for which you want to
unify the facet normals.

The Orient Normals Tool Properties
panel with the
Unify Normals option selected.
- On the Utilities tab, click the Orient Normals
button
.
 |
|
 |
| When you
click the Unify Normals button, the object's facets are all set
to the same direction with a single arrow indicating if that's
frontfacing... |
|
...or
backfacing. You can press the Spacebar to change the direction of all
facet normals, if necessary. |
- Click the Unify Normals button
on the Tool Properties panel.
The facet normals are all set to the same direction, which is indicated by
a normals direction arrow.
Note: It isn't necessary to select facets
when unifying them. Since the purpose of the tool is to set all facet
normals to the same direction, Hexagon automatically applies the tool to all
facets of the selected object.
- If necessary, press the Spacebar to
reverse the direction of the facet normals.
- Press Enter
or click Validate to accept the changes and close the tool.
