Philosophy"
I.
As Fountains mingle with the Rivers
So tears join one another
When a heart is cruelly splintered
By a leaving lover;
All hearts in the world are single,
No hope is ever gained
When two spirits meet and mingle,
Time and love are pained.
II.
See the broken-hearted crumble
And the weak of spirit
die;
No wonder jilted lovers mumble,
"Dearest God, oh, why?"
And often have I felt the sorrow
And often felt the pain:
As love will only pain tomorrow,
I'll never love again.
